The Zebrafish Education and 研究 Facility provides you with opportunities for training and hands-on learning with cutting-edge techniques using the 斑马鱼 in both the classroom and in biomedical research.
Because 斑马鱼 share more than 70% genetic similarity with humans, the species serves as an important model system for studying human disease. In fact, 85% of genes associated with human diseases can also be found in the 斑马鱼. Offering advantages such as ease of genetic manipulation, 成本效益, and rapid embryonic development, 斑马鱼 provide a significant benefit to 学生 and faculty interested in researching biomedical issues, 包括开发, 再生, 传染性疾病, 癌症, 和毒理学.
The facility is located on the Biddeford Campus and currently contains two double-sided recirculating systems with the capacity to house up to 7,000年斑马鱼. It provides expertise and facilities for 斑马鱼 husbandry as well as classroom and experimental use for faculty, 学生, 以及外部用户.

Histology and Imaging Core
ZERF users benefit from UNE's Histology and Imaging Core's expertise and instrumentation for the embedding, 切片, and staining of 斑马鱼 tissues, as well as imaging and image analysis.
